The HRDC is one of the seven leading research and development centers of the Saint-Gobain Group, HRDC is active in the main sector Innovative Materials. 220 colleagues from 10 nations develop, industrialize and optimize new products. Protecting these innovations by patents and trademarks is also a priority.
HRDC’s specialists are active in three competence centers:

Flat Glass – In this area the focus of research is on the float process and on quality optimization as well as on bending, tempering and cutting of glass.

Thin Film Coatings and Surfaces - The design and the deposition of functional thin film systems are research fields in this area as well as the structuring and selective cutting of coated stacks.

Complex Glazing Products - The Complex glass products consist, for example, of the so-called functional and active glass, heatable glass, for instance, or glass which becomes milky at the touch of a button. A further innovation is the method of inserting LEDs in glass.

With its competences and resources, HRDC also offers technical support in the ongoing production process. As a competent partner for industry, research institutes and universities, HRDC has access to a strong network.
