Quick support for the calculation of sound insulations
The new "Rigips Sound Insulation Calculator 2.0“ provides accurate results – also in compliance with DIN 4109-2:2016-07

The publication of the new German sound insulation standard DIN 4109:2016-07 was the occasion for Rigips to present the thoroughly revised "Sound Insulation Calculator 2.0". Just as the predecessor version, this is a largely self-explanatory calculation program for cost-free use to forecast the airborne sound insulation between rooms in cases of horizontal noise transmission. The online tool is now available on the company website at www.rigips.de/schallschutz-rechner.

The task of ensuring adequate sound insulation is as complex as it is delicate, in particular for planners and architects. The support solution here is the "Rigips Sound Insulation Calculator" whose updated version is now available. The sound insulation is calculated in compliance with the calculation methods presented in the new German standard DIN 4109-2:2016-07. The basis is the European calculation model included in DIN EN 12354 which has now been incorporated into the German sound insulation standard DIN 4109:2016. The consequences for the planners: The individual transmission paths, in particular those through the flanking elements, are recorded more accurately than before. Compared with the previous situation, this creates a higher calculation effort which, however, can be handled easily, quick, transparently and comprehensively with the new user-friendly "Rigips Sound Insulation Calculator 2.0".

The calculation program ensures easy determination of the weighted apparent sound reduction index R’w or the weighted standardized level difference DnT,w of prefabricated walls. After selection of the requirements process, the requirements on the sound insulation of walls are automatically displayed as the required resulting sound reduction index (erf. R’w) and compared with the calculation result.

This includes a detailed mapping of each transmission path involved in the noise transmission. Thus, it is possible to determine their individual contribution or that of the individual building element to the whole noise transmission. This allows to detect and avoid weaknesses in the noise transmission right at the planning stage. The calculation of individual transmission paths furthermore allows the planning and dimensioning of optimal sound insulation measures.

As a complement to the new sound insulation calculator, Rigips also offers "First Steps" instructions as well as a Technical Information document which explains the most important changes resulting from the new sound insulation standard. Both documents are accessible at www.rigips.de/infomaterial.
