More attractive shopping in Gießen
The “galerie neustädter tor”

From the Middle Ages right into the 18th century, the guards on the “Neustädter Tor” decided who was allowed to enter the town of Gießen. Today, the shopping centre with the same name in the immediate vicinity of the gate which gave it its name, is recognized in its own way as an attractive entry to a lively university, culture and shopping town. The imposing new four-storey building convinces not least thanks to its outstanding interior design, for which no less than 40,000 square metres of plasterboard and fire-check wallboard from the interior construction professionals Rigips were used.

Risk of structural damages through PE vapour barrier films |
Which kind of film is suitable as a vapour barrier for steep roofs? The Fraunhofer Institute for Construction Physics (IBP) has devoted itself to this question with extensive calculations. They established the drying behavior of roof constructions with the use of different PE vapour barrier films with fixed sd value and the climate membrane Vario KM Duplex UV from ISOVER. The result: The climate membrane makes the drying-out of damp roof constructions possible in a satisfactorily short time and thus offers a sufficiently large big safety buffer against the risk of mould even with small leaks which are unfortunately occur frequently in construction. In contrast, the dehydration potential of PE films with fixed sd value is considerably lower, in particular, PE films do not have such a high safety buffer, so even with minor leaks there is already an increased risk of mould.

ISOVER rated “very good” by ÖKO-TEST |
The clamped felt ISOVER Integra ZKF 1-032 was awarded the top grade “very good” by ÖKO-TEST. In the current issue 10/2009 of the trade journal, 17 insulating materials were tested and compared (Overall test result: 4 products were “very good”). In the test, there were mineral wool and foams as well as insulating materials made of renewable raw materials.

In Jülich’s solar tower power station, 2,153 solar mirrors made of SAINT-GOBAIN SOLAR GLASS ensure CO2-neutral power production.
In 2009 the Stadtdwerke Jülich’s first solar-thermal test power station went into operation. The central feature of the plant are 2,153 are mobile special mirrors, so-called heliostats, which reflects the sunlight to a receiver at a height of 60 metres. The technology which is unique worldwide, is also planned to be used soon in a power station in Algeria.

FABA Autoglas voted “Berlin-Reinickendorf’s most family-friendly company in 2009” |
It has just been made public; FABA is one of the three winners of the competition for being the most family-friendly company. This is the first time the district of Reinickendorf in Berlin has initiated such an award. The organizers, the departments Youth and Family Welfare and Business and Construction, were looking for a company wholeheartedly committed to a policy of compatibility in work and family life, an important issue particularly in these uncertain times. The conditions clearly stated that child care was not the sole criteria. Three companies including FABA were awarded the title which comes with a prize of 2000 Euros on 5. Nov. 2009
