Launch of the Third Annual "Saint-Gobain & Start-ups" Innovation Competition

Leading international materials designer, manufacturer and distributor, Saint-Gobain, is organizing its third global innovation competition. This aims to reward start-up companies offering the most innovative solutions in the housing, energy and environment fields. The winner will receive € 25,000 and two additional runners-up will each receive € 10,000.

A new, innovative bedding mortar from Weber-Deitermann makes work considerably easier for tile-layers. weber.xerm 859 has constant processing characteristics in both warm and cold temperatures. Thanks to the temperature-independent setting behaviour, every laying area is usable and available after three hours at the latest. The innovative new development correspondingly recommends itself particularly for use on major projects as well as on construction sites with tight deadlines.

For a young family an architecturally unusual villa has been built on the west bank of the Ammersee, the form and façade of which harmoniously adapt to the surroundings which are characterized by the course of the hillside and fields, and whose interior impresses with its high-quality wall construction and refined fittings. A key role in the development work was played by the “Duraline 12,5 VARIO” plasterboard from Rigips, which recommended itself for the planned work thanks to its good processing qualities, optimal soundproofing values and its particularly robust nature.

Once again this year, SGMA (Saint-Gobain Marine Application) will again be present at SMM 2010 from 7th – 10th September in Hamburg. The SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology) is the most important fair worldwide for the shipbuilding industry. For six years now there have been joint marine activities of various Saint-Gobain companies.
