United Nations Global Compact
Saint-Gobain has been a member of the Global Compact of the United Nations since 2003 and signed the declaration in support of human rights in 2008.
The pact, which was concluded in July 2000, based upon an idea of the then Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, is an international initiative which several hundred companies, non-governmental organizations and civil organizations (trade unions, schools, UN agencies) have supported. In doing so, they undertake to comply with ten basic principles relating to the areas of human rights, working standards, environmental protection and the fight against corruption. On the basis of this international network, the aim is to jointly contribute to the development of a humane and sustainable economy.
In 2009 Saint-Gobain joined two further initiatives which supplement the Global Compact:
The Caring for Climate" initiative with the aim of tackling climate change , and the CEO Water Mandate for the protection of water resources as part of the "Millennium Development Goals" of the UN.
EHS is a management system which considers the individual systems E = Environment, H = Health, S = Safety holistically.
EHS is one of the pillars of sustainable development, which Saint-Gobain has committed itself to.
The EHS policy of the Saint-Gobain Group is based on Respect for human beings and their environment, which is associated with good economic performance.
The objectives of this policy are
- the approach to the target of zero accidents
- the approach to the target of zero occupational illnesses... and the maintenance of this level
- to control risks and to prevent them
- the reduction of the consumption of natural resources (raw materials, energy…)
- the reduction of emissions into natural habitats and the reduction of the volume of waste
- the pursuance of the Integrated Management System EHS

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Pampus GmbH is clearly committed to a better balance between work and family life. In addition to providing holiday support and flexible working time systems, many young fathers are already taking advantage of parental leave - we are delighted about this commitment. The reservation of occupancy places in the company kindergarten "Glückskinder Willich" is a logical step for the company. As a co-initiator of the idea of a municipal works nursery school, it is important to provide employees with the opportunity to know their children are being well looked after in the close proximity to the company's site. The nursery was opened in 2013.
