Five questions to Philipp
Philipp, Project Engineer in Central Technology at Saint-Gobain Deutsche Glas
Please introduce yourself.
My name is Philipp, I am a Project Engineer in Central Technology at Saint-Gobain Deutsche Glas, 31 years old and have been with the company since February 2017. Together with 7 team colleagues, we are working on new investments for the Saint-Gobain sites, such as new machines, plants and factories. In addition, we accompany and support the implementation of WCM, Industry 4.0 and digitization within the sites.
What do you think is so special about working at Saint-Gobain?
Since day one I feel totally comfortable at Saint-Gobain, was well received and integrated into the team. Saint-Gobain is an international group with all the advantages of a large group such as personal development, international exchange, employee share programs and attractive working hours. There is also plenty of room for new ideas and suggestions. The level of training is really very high and you can build a good network.
How do you notice that you are working for an innovative company that cares about the living spaces of the future?
At Saint-Gobain, Industry 4.0, the existential driver of innovation and competitiveness, is at the forefront in many areas. My projects are also based in this area, so that I can take an active part in shaping them. The Domolab in Paris is impressive for me. The focus here is on innovation and customers, and 24 Saint-Gobain companies are presenting their latest products.
What makes your career at Saint-Gobain so special?
II first applied for the Trainee Program, the so-called Global Player Program. But Saint-Gobain didn't think it was suitable for me and made two alternative offers that fit me perfectly. And they were right! Now I have a great job with a lot of international flair: in the first few months I was already working in Finland, England, Italy, Austria and Switzerland.
What kind of people do you think should apply to Saint-Gobain?
People with ideas, team spirit and entrepreneurial attitude are always welcome. For a job like mine, an interest in optimizing production processes, Industry 4.0 and digitization with a focus on the entire value chain is essential. The people at Saint-Gobain are very open-minded, more and more young people are starting out and it is getting more and more international. That's great.
