Your Responsibility

For our global Purchasing Organization we are searching for a Strategic Senior Purchaser (m/w/d) who is responsible for optimizing a number of global raw material categories with approximately 30M Euro spend (including transport spend) via geographically spread sourcing sites (Germany, US, Japan and UK). In addition to leading negotiations on price, quality, business continuity – having a specific focus on creating a global sustainability methodology and working with the global sustainability team of the SOA ENC (Engineered Components). Identification, selection and implementation of tools such as:

  • New smart platforms
  • Saint-Gobain global tools
  • Modifications to existing platforms

Collaboratively build mission and roadmap to centralize transportation and create a superior service for 20 globally spread manufacturing sites. Requirement to understand current situation, needs and opportunities from local delivery, cost and CO2 metrics. Identify new digitalization projects for the purchasing and take a leadership role for the rolling out the supplier portal requirements. Model, promote and build engagement in internal control global standards across the SOA’s culture.

Your tasks

  • Supplier negotiations incl. search, preparation, contract management and supplier evaluation
  • Management and leadership of purchasing negotiations until order placement
  • Purchasing key materials and key services as well as investments in compliance with Saint-Gobain purchasing policies (e.g. Internal Control Framework)
  • Active search for savings potentials and their result-oriented implementation
  • Responsible takeover of strategic product groups locally as well as globally 
  • Active Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) with top suppliers
  • Strategic negotiations and conclusion of framework agreements with key suppliers
  • Analyzing the procurement market, recognizing trends and changes and deriving options for action from them 
  • Analyzing purchasing spend portfolio for the delegated sites, develop strategy and action plan
  • Management and implementation of projects in purchasing
  • Development and mitigation the risk of single source situation
  • Development of the Business Contingency Plan (BCP)
  • Development of dual sourcing strategies as well as their positioning and implementation in coordination with management
  • Development of purchasing KPI across the sites (e.g. delivery/quality performance, E-Tool usage rates, compliance rates) 
  • Further development of new digital tools for purchasing
  • Introduce a sustainability methodology for local sourcing within the supply chain and collaborate with R&D
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration

Your Profile

  • Degree in business administration or engineering (Master's/Diploma/MBA)
  • Long-term relevant professional experience in purchasing, minimum of 10 years’ experience in purchasing (5 years in a senior or global role)
  • with category management portfolio in a corporate environment
  • Wide range of international experience and used to acting globally
  • Strong ownership and ability to shape the role with confidence and collaboration
  • Ability to work transversally in cross functional global teams and R&D on key topics
  • Working with ERP Systems (QAD preferred), strong digital skills
  • Advanced commercial & analytical thinking
  • Negotiation and partnership building skills 
  • Team player / self-starter with sense of urgency to meet commitments and deadlines
  • Ability to navigate complexity and conflict
  • Cultural awareness
  • Fluent in English and German, ideally French
